God Reveals in Saints
(Part 5)
✍Our God will keep His promise for a thousand generations.
We find it written in Gedalat (the books recorded by the church that contain the history of the saints' struggles) that the almighty Christ made a promise to all the righteous martyrs during their rest day, saying, "I have shown you mercy for so many generations." We will see what it means and its biblical basis:
God spoke unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. And I will establish my covenant with you; >: Gen 9:8-16.
"O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments.... (Neh 1:5-6); "O Lord, the great and terrible God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;..." (T.Dan 9:4); "Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; And repay them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face. Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he swore unto thy fathers: And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he swore unto thy fathers to give thee.' Deuteronomy 7:9-13.
Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen." 1 Kings 11:11-13 "Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. ›› 2 Kings 20:5.
"Moses prayed before God, his God; Think of your servants Abraham and Isaac and Israel, to whom you promised yourself, "I will make your descendants more numerous than the stars in the sky, and I will give all this land that I have spoken about to your descendants, and they will inherit it forever." And God had mercy on the evil that he intended to do to his people." Exodus 33:11-14
All these verses that we have seen above tell us that God was with our holy fattens and that He protected all their generations with His covenant. Our Lord Christ Himself assured us that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will abide by His covenant forever. Jesus answered and said to them:..I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.'' Matthew 22:30-32.
(To be continued)
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every language that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of the Holy Mother of God, the Virgin, and the Cross be upon us. Amen.
