(The Mystical Unity of the Church with Christ)
Beloved and respected, all our members who follow the orthodox education that we convey on John Repentance page; We have sent you the following important lesson about the unity between Christ and the Church so we entrust you all to read and learn from it.
Man was not created to live a solitary life but to live together, growing in love. When man was created, he was not meant to live alone. The fact that Adam and Eve were created is because man achieves the purpose of being human only when he has another human being. Love, humility, kindness, and kindness have practical meaning only when a person has another person to love.
Although the Orthodox doctrine of salvation places God's grace as its basic starting point, it also requires the existence of another person. Without our brother (without another person), we will not find salvation. We can be saved from this cruel and deeply lonely world and from evil when we love others in a manner that is the image of a holy saint, when we love others with selfless love. Then we will thank and glorify God, who is the owner of the holy and eternal communion with him. Then we will have unity with the saints who will be members of the holy fellowship by believing in Christ.
The church is an important part of Christ. Christ will not be complete without the church. In St. Paul's teaching, the church is the fullness of Christ. When we think about this from the heart, we understand that it is a divine mystery. Our God, Christ, who is perfect in everything, is a perfect man, and He made the church, which is His body, to be the fullness. On Friday, He made the church full of His bride, for whom He willingly accepted sickness and death. Without her, it is impossible to know Him and live in harmony with Him. It is through her that we find Him. Our Lord, when He goes to the Father who sent Him, told His disciples and their company that He will live with them forever. It is the church that welcomes people to find salvation when they have a heart ready to believe in Christ because it is the one who lives with them forever in their teachings, their prayers, the sacraments they offer, and everything they fight for. She is the real body of Christ, and whoever enters her becomes a member of Christ. The Church makes them part of Christ through the mysteries they perform. As Christ is known by the church, so the church is known only by Christ. Her identity is Christ, who is her head. Her existence is only as long as she lives with Him, in Him.
To describe the unity of Christ, the holy scholars teach that "from two natures, He became one nature by the union." Also, to explain that there is one body of Christ that is united, we have heard that it is said that two bodies are united into one body. The second statement is to speak of the united eternity, not that there was a human body of Christ before the incarnation. We do not know Christ's human body apart from His union with His physical word (pre-union). Also, we do not know the church separately, but in its mystical union with Christ. We do not know the scriptures and rituals in the church by separating them from Christ. Their foundation, center, and conclusion are in Him. Therefore, it is through the church's teachings, practices, and sacraments that we come to know Christ and participate in His divine life.
Furthermore, the church is not a mere human institution, but rather a divine institution founded by Christ Himself. The church is not just a community of believers, but it is the mystical body of Christ, which includes all the faithful who have been baptized into Christ and share in His life. The church is the place where we encounter Christ in a special way, and it is through the church that we receive the grace of God that enables us to live a holy life and become united with Him.
Advices and #Teaching from #Monks
Beloved and respected, all our members who follow the orthodox education and spiritual service that we convey on the John's Repentance website; These writings prepared as the starting point of the title are said by the abbot monks, which can be found in the 'Book of Paradise, News of the Abbot'. For today, we have delivered to you the lesson, which we said to be useful and spiritual advise, which go along with our yesterday's teachings on how to be alert knowing the devil's tricks. We entrust you all to read and learn from it.
✍A lesson about food and lions
This is a lesson taught by one of the fathers. A lion is mighty and terrible and wonderful, but because of his belly he falls into a trap and becomes a stumbling block to man. In the same way, if a monk abandons his struggle and follows his desires, his glory will be lost and he will become a disgrace. Tim 6:10
✍A lesson about the earth and humility
Father Pemen said; "But the earth does not go down, for it is down". And he who humbles himself will not fail. It holds the water of the steep and flat land. And he who humbles himself will benefit most of all. Without his sin he stands at the right hand of Christ. They asked the old monk if God would accept the prayer of a sinner.
✍Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn
A brother monk asked a monk: "What is the meaning of 'Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn'?" He answered and said to him: Rejoice with those who rejoice means to be united in the joy of the struggling people who are making a legacy in a spritual life, and to enjoy the good works that have been prepared for them. He replied that "Weep with those who weep" means to beg and weep to God for sinners' wrongdoings and sins. Matthew 6:50 Romans 12: 1 Corinthians 13:1
✍A lesson about friendship
This is a lesson learned from Saint Ephraim. A brother should forgive his brother for wronging his brother out of love, not to shame and humiliate him. If this is the case, he will lose his life because of his brother who is next to him. He said, "Live in peace among men, that you may be prepared to be called a child of God." My brother, love spiritual love, but despise carnal love. This love of the flesh is flawed for we have learned from it that the things that come from loving the flesh are gluttony, love of drink, laziness and jealousy, malice and revenge, and envy. Isaiah 5:1 Luke 13:24.
✍A question about prayer
One of the monks asked another monk that the prayer that I am praying is not known to me because I do not know the power of the word. That monk answered and said to him: Although the power of the word is unknown to you and cannot be touched, but Satan knows the power of the word and they are shocked by the word. Therefore, by praying little by little and crying out, do not stop praying until your prayer reaches God to get ahelp , so that you may be healed from hardness of heart, and be saved from constant fatigue. Ps 26:1 Eph 6:10.
