#Tears of #repentance Dear Orthodox friends of John's Repentance website spiritual program series; We have sent you the following educational message regarding the subject mentioned in the title, so we entrust you to read and understand it. There is a legend that has been told since ancient times. The Almighty God said to the angels, "Go to the earth and bring the most precious things that you find on earth." One of the angels brought a drop of blood that a man had shed to save another man. The Most High God said, "O angel; This that you have brought is glorious in my sight. However, it is not the most glorious one. Another angel came from a patient who died of an infectious disease and a nurse who died from the disease and brought her last breath. The Most High God said, "O angel; This that you have brought is glorious in my sight. However, it is not the most glorious one. Finally, another angel brought the tears of a sinner who had repented in a small cup before God. And God said to the angel, "O angel; "You have brought to me the most noble thing in the world," he replied. (Philokalia: the Bible of Orthodox Spirituality p.159) The way for a person to return to God after he has sinned is through tears of repentance. The psalmist, Saint David, often tells us about the blessed pearl of the Holy Spirit. Let's notice what he said, "I wash my bed all night long, and I wipe my bed with my tears." He said this because his repentance is through the grace and mercy of the Holy Spirit. For his repentance was not in vain like the repentance of Judas. Again, the psalmist tells us that "weeping will come in the evening, but in the morning there will be joy" (Ps 29 (30):5). This signifies the joy of the Holy Spirit given with tears. It is related to what the Lord said in the Gospel, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). Tears give spiritual rest to the soul lost in sin, and cause it to gain insight and the revelation of mysteries. When the Holy Gospel talks about Saint Peter, it says, "He went outside and wept bitterly" (Luke 22:62). He received the great responsibility to feed and lead the believers after walking in tears Our ancestors taught that tears are a gift from God to give birth to a new life. Baptism is one; If a person sins after baptism and is in the work of death, his return and "rebirth" is this tear of repentance. Through the tears of repentance, he renews the grace that he received in baptism, but which was later corrupted by sin. St. John the Baptist said, "The fire of sin is steadfast." But a few drops of tears extinguishes the burning of mistakes (like fire) and purifies our souls. He teaches us this spiritual lesson. Because the tears of true repentance are a gift from God, it explains to us that no matter how bad a person's wrongdoing is, it has the power to destroy that serious sin. St. John said this to indicate that a person can do wrong because of his free will, and whether he does not use it, will be questioned at the time of judgment. We find this holy father often teaching about tears of repentance. One of his teachings where he explained that "tears are both the mother and child of prayer" is worth mentioning. Tears have a great place for a person's eternal life and the union of grace with God. It makes a person compassionate, pure, loving others, forgiving and humble. If he does this, he will live forever as his creator (God). In general, all members; Thinking only of God's things, we should repent, be in a broken heart to fulfill our canon properly, and pray with tears; Similarly, if we come across other things that can mislead or distract us, we recommend that we need to stay away from them so that we don't fall into sin. We will return in the next lesson about the obstacles to repentance, so stay tuned ©ዮሐንስ ንስሐ Follow our Telegram group every day and share it with your friends: https://t.me/+DCbv9KRTroY0NmJh
