    Following the Ark of the

    Covenant

Continued👇🏾 “When you see the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, then you shall set out from your camps and follow it.” (Joshua 3:3) ✍🏾The Ark of the Covenant being taken down from its place and carried to the Jordan River on the eve of the Feast of Baptism symbolizes our Lord Jesus Christ descending to the Jordan River under the ministry of Saint John the Baptist. Just as the Ark waited in the river The whole night , Christ, in humility, waited His turn to be baptized, showing His obedience and solidarity with humanity. 👉🏾Baptism is a symbol of Christ’s death and resurrection. Though sinless, He was counted among sinners and baptized at the hands of John, prefiguring His crucifixion and the salvation of mankind. “He was baptized in the Jordan River by John, as if He were a perfect sinner, and received baptism at the feet of John.” (KJV; 517) The month in which Christ was baptized was a rainy and snowy season for the Israelites. It was impossible to remain by the river overnight without shelter. Therefore, those who came to be baptized pitched tents around the Jordan River for protection and worship. Today, the Church continues this tradition: during the Feast of Baptism, the Ark of the Covenant is carried to the water, tents and booths are erected around the baptismal site, and the faithful participate in the sacred commemoration, re-living the mystery of Christ’s humility and our own baptismal renewal. May our God grant us the blessings of the Lord! May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends:https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
