👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾The #Ascension of the #Prophet #Elijah #Commemoration: (Tir 6 ) Dear followers of the Orthodox teachings on John's Repentance website .we greet you with the peace of the Lord.Today we reflect on the Ascension of the Prophet Elijah, the righteous man of God, who was taken alive into heaven by the power of the Lord. His life is a testimony to obedience, zeal for truth, victory over idolatry, and complete trust in God. This lesson is drawn from Holy Scripture, the tradition of the Church, and the spiritual writings attributed to the Prophet Elijah. Tir 6 ✍🏾 This is the account of the ascension of Elijah, the Man of Thessalonica. He was endowed with an immortal conscience. He bore the burden of mankind and passed from death to life. While Elijah was praying, Saint Raguel appeared to him and said: 👉🏾“O warrior who has conquered lost consciences, who has conquered death, rejoice greatly, for the time has come for you to ascend to heaven. You shall live in a land of perfect joy, laughter, and happiness.” ✍🏾And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take Elijah up into heaven, that Elijah and Elisha departed from Gilgal. Elijah said to Elisha, “Remain here, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel.” But Elisha replied, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went to Bethel together. ✍🏾Again Elijah said, “Remain here, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” Elisha answered, “As the Lord lives, I will not leave you.” Thus the two of them went on together. Fifty men of the sons of the prophets followed and stood at a distance, while Elijah and Elisha stood by the Jordan. ✍🏾Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the waters of the Jordan. The waters were divided to the right and to the left, and both of them crossed over on dry ground. After they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken away from you.” ✍🏾Elisha said, “Let a double portion of the Holy Spirit that is upon you be upon me.” Elijah replied, “You have asked a good thing; nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if you do not see me, it shall not be so.” ✍🏾 As they continued walking and talking, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them. Elijah was taken up into heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” And he saw him no more. ✍🏾 Then Elijah tore his clothes into two pieces. Elisha , picked up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, returned, and stood by the bank of the Jordan. He took the mantle of Elijah and struck the water, saying, “Where is the God of Elijah?” When he struck the water, it was divided to the right and to the left, and Elisha crossed over. ✍🏾When the sons of the prophets who were watching saw this, they said, “The Holy Spirit that rested upon Elijah now rests upon Elisha.” They came to meet him and bowed to the ground before him. 👉🏾 Greetings to you, our father and friend Elijah. 👉🏾 Greetings to you, Elijah, who rebuked Ahab for his wicked deeds. 👉🏾 Greetings to you, Elijah, who destroyed the house of idols and shattered false worship. 👉🏾 The Lord has promised mercy to whoever writes, reads, hears, or commemorates your holy story. 👉🏾 May the God of the Prophet Elijah have mercy upon us all. Source : dirsane nebiy eliyas May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
