✍🏾God is spirit, and we must worship Him in spirit and truth. (John 4:24) By seeking Him in purity and truth, we understand His work and perceive Him with our hearts. But if our hearts are filled with hypocrisy, as He said to the Pharisees,
“You will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’” (Matthew 23:39)we will only behold Him at the final judgment.
O children of men, the path we walk may seem clean to us outwardly, but true purity is measured by God, who examines the heart and innermost thoughts. (Proverbs 16:2) Saint Paul teaches us to examine the Word with faith, standing firm in the understanding and conduct we have learned.
The purification of the heart comes through knowing and keeping God’s Word. (Psalm 119:9) By observing His commandments, we prepare our hearts to see God and inherit His glory. As Saint James ze Sirug prays in the Liturgy :
“O Lord, open the eyes of our hearts that see You, and ears that hear Your words.”
Thus, the path to seeing God is through a pure heart, unwavering faith, and obedience to His Word.
Part 37 Continues ...
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
