👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾How the #Church #Describes The #Fast of the #Prophets. (Part 3) Dear followers of the Orthodox teachings on John's Repentance website .we greet you with the peace of the Lord. Today, based on the topic mentioned above, we present to you the following important lesson. We encourage everyone to read it carefully and learn from it. During the Fast of the Prophets, the Church designates each Sunday with a special name and appointed readings. These Sundays resemble the pattern of the Great Fast, yet each has its own theme, hymn, and teaching that prepares the faithful for the mystery of the Incarnation. 1. The First Sunday: (Astehmro) Dates: Hidar 6–12 This week is called “(Astemhro)” because it reflects the revelation of God’s mercy and the beginning of spiritual instruction that leads believers out of darkness. Hymns of Saint Yared “Etezekiro... “Do not remember our sins; do not leave us to destruction…” “Fetsm lene senaytye “Perform for us the goodness that is with You…” can also be offered as an alternative hymn. 👉🏾Readings Psalm: “Remember not our former sins, O Lord; let Your mercy come quickly to us, for we are brought very low.” (Ps. 78:8) 👉🏾Gospel: Matthew 6:5–16 👉🏾Liturgy: Kidase Egzi-e 👉🏾Teaching Focus The Church proclaims that God, through His compassion, delivered the world from the 5,500 years of curse and darkness. Through His goodness and patience, He brings the faithful from the death of body and soul into the light of salvation. 2. The Second Sunday: “Holy Week” kidst Dates: Hedar 13–19 This week is called “Holy or kidst ” because it emphasizes the sanctification of the Sabbath and thanksgiving to God who made it holy. Hymns of Saint Yared “Lotu sbhat welotu akotet lekedesat lesenbet…” “Let the Sabbath be hallowed to Him who sanctified it…” ✍🏾Readings Psalm during the Liturgy: “In heaven and on earth, in the sea and in all the deep places, He has done whatever He pleased.” (Ps. 134:6) 👉🏾Gospel: John 5:16–28 👉🏾Liturgy: The Liturgy of Saint Athanasius Kidst in the Great Fast Psalm “Geneyu Le Egziabher” A call to give glory and strength to the Lord, acknowledging His majesty and His holiness. Misbak “Egziabher-se semayate gebre amin…” “But God created the heavens; faith and virtue are before Him; holiness and the splendor of glory are in His sanctuary.” (Psalm 95:5–6) This response teaches that God is the Creator of all, the source of truth, virtue, and holiness. Gospel Reading Matthew 6:16–25.and the liturgy is :The Liturgy of Epiphanius This week’s sermon focuses on God’s forgiveness, the call to submit ourselves to His will, the holiness that He requires from His people, and the honoring of the Holy Sabbath.
