👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾How the #Church #Describes The #Fast of the #Prophets.
(Part 3)
Dear followers of the Orthodox teachings on John's Repentance website .we greet you with the peace of the Lord. Today, based on the topic mentioned above, we present to you the following important lesson. We encourage everyone to read it carefully and learn from it.
During the Fast of the Prophets, the Church designates each Sunday with a special name and appointed readings. These Sundays resemble the pattern of the Great Fast, yet each has its own theme, hymn, and teaching that prepares the faithful for the mystery of the Incarnation.
1. The First Sunday: (Astehmro)
Dates: Hidar 6–12
This week is called “(Astemhro)” because it reflects the revelation of God’s mercy and the beginning of spiritual instruction that leads believers out of darkness.
Hymns of Saint Yared
“Etezekiro...
“Do not remember our sins; do not leave us to destruction…”
“Fetsm lene senaytye
“Perform for us the goodness that is with You…” can also be offered as an alternative hymn.
