The prophet Ezekiel also calls the people to repentance:
“Cast away from you all your transgressions by which you have sinned, and make for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God. Therefore turn and live.” (Ezekiel 18:31–32)
This teaches that those who repent begin to form a new heart within themselves.
Again the prophet declares God’s promise:
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My ordinances and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:25–27)
Those who repent sincerely are washed, renewed, and given a clean heart by God’s mercy.
Blessed indeed are those whose hearts are purified through repentance, for they shall see God.

May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
