👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾about Fasting: Until #What #Time Do We #Fast? (Part 6) Dear followers of the Orthodox teachings .we greet you with the peace of the Lord. Today, based on the topic mentioned above, we present to you the following important lesson. We encourage everyone to read it carefully and learn from it. ✍🏾 The order of the Holy Church is guided by moderation and spiritual wisdom. ✍🏾 Many people fast until 3, 6, 7, 9, or 11 o’clock according to their custom, but the canons of the Church actually prescribe specific fasting hours. ✍🏾 In the Fetha Negest it is written: “They shall fast until the twelfth hour, and they shall fast until the ninth hour, except on feast days such as the Nativity and Baptism which fall on Wednesdays and Fridays.”(Ft. Ngs. Art. 15:565–566) ✍🏾 After listing the fasts, the same article, in number 572, adds: 👉🏾 “They shall fast until the ninth hour in the afternoon… but whoever fasts beyond this will receive a greater reward. However, they shall not fast on Sundays and Saturdays, except by abstaining from forbidden foods.” ✍🏾 The Great Fast (Hudade) has a different order from the regular Wednesday and Friday fasts. 👉🏾 “They shall fast until sunset on the first weeks of the Great Fast. During the remaining weeks, they shall fast until the eleventh hour, but in the month of Semone Hmamat they shall fast until the rising of the star.” (Ft. Ngs. Art. 15:595) ✍🏾 The first week of the Great Fast, known as Zewerede, is observed until the Twelfth hour. ✍🏾 In Fetha Negest number 578, it is also taught about Semone hmamat: “They shall fast both Friday and Saturday of Semone Hmamat together, and whoever is able should not eat anything until the rooster crows at night. But whoever is unable to fast both days should at least fast on Saturday.” ✍🏾Summary of Fasting Hours in the Church 👉🏾 The Six Regular Fasts: Until the ninth hour. (Wednesday, Friday, Gena Fast, Nineveh Fast, Apostles’ Fast, Filseta Fast) 👉🏾 Weeks of the Great Fast (except Zewerede and Hmamat): Until the eleventh hour 👉🏾 First Week of the Great Fast (Zewerede): Until the twelfth hour 👉🏾 Semone Hmamat: Until the rising of the star. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends:https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
