    The Call to Practice True

Mercy Mercy Should Not Remain a Theory

Continued 👇🏾 ✍🏾✍🏾The Call to Practice True Mercy Mercy should not remain a theory we admire from a distance. It is something we must practice according to our ability. We are not called to advise others while doing nothing ourselves, but to become examples through our own works of compassion. ✍🏾 Mercy is practiced with faith, hope, and love, not for the shallow popularity that rises and fades in this world. The model of our mercy should not be famous individuals, but Christ, the true God of mercy, and the saints who walked in His footsteps with pure hearts. ✍🏾 We do acts of kindness from inner compassion, not through excessive publicity or the pressure of other people. The Church, as the refuge of the poor, teaches mercy not only through words but also by living it in concrete action. ✍🏾Our fathers taught us that almsgiving is never lost. “He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him,” as it is written in Proverbs 19:17. The one who gives in sincerity receives blessings many times over. 👉🏾Saint John the Baptist taught the incomparable value of mercy. He said, “Giving alms is better than performing miracles, and feeding the hungry in the name of Christ is better than raising the dead in the name of Christ. When you perform a miracle, you become a debtor to the Creator, but when you give alms, you are lending to the Creator.” ✍🏾 Our Lord also taught us to value eternal treasures over earthly ones: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”(Matthew 6:19-21) Therefore, let us store our treasures with God in heaven, so that our hearts may remain with Him. ✍🏾 What God observes is not the size of what we give, but the compassion behind it. Even if we have nothing and simply say with a sincere heart, “May God give us so we may give,” He sees the intention and grants according to His mercy. Since we cannot help every person in need, we offer help where the need is most urgent and where our compassion can bring real relief. ✍🏾 Mercy begins at home, in the Church, and among our neighbors. As it is written in the Book of Feteha Negest (Article 11, Number 452), “Do not spend your money where there is no security.” True mercy is given where it benefits others, for God always does what brings benefit and goodness to His children. ✍🏾 Scripture commands us: “Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:3 If we desire to receive mercy, we must cast aside cruelty and practice compassion toward the wrongdoer, and kindness toward the one in need. ✍🏾The promise of the Lord is eternal: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit.” King David also proclaimed, “Your goodness and Your mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6 Let us be steadfast in showing mercy so that the mercy of God may follow us all our days. ✍🏾And continually, let us pray for God’s mercy: “Let us all hope for the blessings of Your glorious Father, who is full of mercy; let us abstain from all evil deeds, and let us unite in every good deed; blessed is He who gave us His holy Body and precious Blood.”(Liturgy) Part 28 Continues ... May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
