It is the Book of the Church.
This is a truth of great importance, my child. The Bible did not fall from heaven into the hands of individuals. It was born from the womb of the Holy Church. It was the Church that wrote it, the Church that compiled it, the Church that preserved it, and it is only within the Church, guided by her Holy Tradition, that it can be truly and safely understood. To try and interpret the Bible on your own, apart from the mind of the Holy Fathers who have guided us for two thousand years, is to set sail on a vast ocean without a compass or a rudder.
Our Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, in its ancient wisdom, has preserved the fullness of this divine letter, including sacred books like Enoch and Jubilees, which testify to the richness of the faith handed down to us.
So, when you next pick up the Holy Bible, do not treat it as any other book. First, make the sign of the cross. Say a prayer, asking the Holy Spirit who inspired its words to illuminate your mind. Read it not to win arguments, but to meet Christ. Read it slowly, and let its words wash over you, cleanse you, and heal you.
It is God Himself speaking to you. Listen with all your heart.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
