✍🏾 His Martyrdom and Burial
“Hidar 7 is the day on which the Holy House of Saint George is celebrated, the faithful witness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the sun of Persia and Lydda, the star of Tarsus and Beirut, the light of the sea and the radiance of the day.”
Saint George completed his martyrdom on Miyaziya 23. The faithful prepared precious garments and perfumes, wrapped his holy body, and brought it to Lydda. But upon arrival, they found that his entire family his father Zorothos, his mother Theobsta, his sisters Martha and Asia, and his betrothed had passed away.
An uncle named Andrew received the body. The people gathered, and the Archbishop of Jerusalem, Abba Tewodros, was called. He consecrated a church in Saint George’s honor and placed the holy body there with reverence. From that day, many miracles were manifested.
✍🏾Honoring Saint George in Ethiopia
Our wise King Menelik brought soil from the tomb of Saint George in Lydda, transporting it by ship and mule. He used this holy soil as the foundation when building the church of Saint George, surrounding it with strong, blessed walls.
✍🏾Feast Days of Saint George

May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
