👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾Feast of #Debre #Qusquam
(Hidar 6 )
Dear followers of the Orthodox teachings , we greet you with the peace of God. Today, in honor of the Feast of Debre Qusquam, we offer you this important teaching and encourage you to read and learn from it.
✍🏾The Holy Mountain of Qusquam
Mount Qusquam is a mountain in southern Egypt. Mount Qusquam is the place where Our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, along with Saint Joseph and Saint Salome, rested when they returned from exile.
✍🏾Mount Qusquam is also the place where our Lord Jesus fled from those who wanted to kill Him and found refuge, and where Saint Gabriel announced to Saint Joseph in a dream that King Herod had died.
✍🏾This is according to the Holy Gospel: when Herod wanted to kill Christ, the angel of God, Saint Gabriel, appeared to the aged Joseph in a dream and said, "Take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt" (Matthew 2:13–15).
✍🏾Testimony of Saint Theophilos
✍🏾Mount Qusquam is blessed and sanctified because our Lord performed many miracles there. Regarding the sacredness of this mountain, Saint Theophilos, Archbishop of Alexandria, said in his sermon on the Assumption of Mary: "This is a mountain that is higher than all the mountains of the world. In it dwells the Holy God. The Son of God loved and honored this mountain, and He dwelled with His Holy Mother above all the nations of the world. He did not choose to dwell in the house of the angels, nor did He choose Bethany, but rather dwelt in a monastery on the mountain, as the prophet David said . loved Mount Zion and built his temple there."
✍🏾Fulfillment of the Prophecy
The persecution of Christ was fulfilled in accordance with what was foretold by the prophet Isaiah:
"Behold, the Lord will come upon a swift cloud into Egypt, and the idols of Egypt shall bow down before Him" (Isaiah 19:1).
The “swift cloud” mentioned by the prophet describes our Lord’s descent into Egypt on the back of Our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary.
✍🏾During this time of persecution, the idols of Egypt were seen being shattered and falling, and the demons who had misled people through these idols were seen fleeing.
✍🏾Moreover, since our Lord is the Second Adam, He was exiled to redeem the first Adam, who had been exiled because of the deceit of Jesse (the devil), and in this way, He expelled the demons from the hearts of men.
