Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Peace and grace to you all.Through the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ and the intercession of His holy Mother, we share this teaching entitled “Mother of God: The Thornless Flower.”
Let us read, learn, and meditate upon it with humble hearts.
✍🏾The Holy Virgin Mary is a true flower.
According to science, a plant must meet three main conditions to be considered a true plant. These are:
👉🏾True roots
👉🏾 True stems
👉🏾 True branches
Such plants are able to prepare their own food by absorbing water and minerals from the soil through their roots and using sunlight through their leaves and stems, in a process known as photosynthesis.
However, green organisms that lack true roots, stems, and branches such as algae and fungi cannot prepare their own food and are therefore not regarded as true plants.
The Virgin Mary as the True Plant of Life
Our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary, fulfills this likeness in the spiritual sense:
Her root is the holy mountains (Ps. 86:1).
Her stem is the holy branch (Isa. 11:1).
Her branches are the vine that grows in heaven (John 15:5).
Thus, she is called the True Flower of Life, who brought forth the fruit of life, our Lord Jesus Christ the spiritual food and drink for the world.
The Humility of the Virgin
When the Virgin Mary read the prophecies concerning her, she did not exalt herself.
Instead, she said with humility:
“I would have drawn water, chopped wood, and served her as a maidservant.”
Even when the Archangel Gabriel announced, “You are found worthy to bear the Son of God,” she humbly replied:
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.”
Such humility is beyond measure she, the Mother of God, still called herself a servant.
✍🏾The Unworthy Boldness of Others
Some proud women, led by delusion, dare to say, “If I had lived in her time, I too would have given birth to Christ.”
Such words reveal a lack of modesty and understanding.
Likewise, some women in Israel still wait in vain, saying that Christ has not yet been born and that He will be born from among us in the future.
But in truth, even these women who imagine themselves worthy to bear Christ, the food and drink of life are not even certain that they are properly nourishing their own children.they are like the foolish who cannot prepare their own food, yet speak proudly as if they could feed others. Their words are empty and lack truth.
✍🏾The True and Eternal Flower
The true flower, our Lady the Holy Virgin Mary, was remembered by the Creator even before the foundation of the world.After creation, she was revealed in the prophecies of the prophets, proclaimed in the preaching of the apostles, and glorified in the heart of every faithful soul the smallest Adam.She is the flower that never withers, the ever-living blossom of divine grace.
A flower gives rest to the eyes, hope to the heart, and fragrance to the nose.Likewise, our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary, is the rest of the eyes, the hope of hearts, and the fragrance of the soul first to her blessed parents, and then to all mankind.
“You are a beautiful flower, your fragrance coming forth from the root of Jesse,”
as the wise man said (Wudasie Maryam Ze ehud, Isaiah 11:1).
✍🏾The Mother of Salvation
A flower brings healing, yet its medicine is only temporary.
But the True Flower, our Lady, brought forth the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, who grants eternal healing and salvation.
For this reason, she is rightly called “Mother of Salvation.”
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”(Luke 2:10–11)
