    The Once-for-all Sacrifice of Christ

the Apostle Writes Concerning Our Lord Jesus

Continued 👇🏾 ✍🏾The Once-for-All Sacrifice of Christ The Apostle writes concerning our Lord Jesus Christ: “He did not enter the Most Holy Place every year with the blood of another. Otherwise, He would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world. But now, once for all, at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and to those who eagerly wait for Him, He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.” (Hebrews 9:25–28) This sacred passage reveals the perfection and finality of Christ’s offering. Unlike the priests of the Old Covenant, who entered the sanctuary repeatedly with the blood of animals, Christ entered once for all into the heavenly sanctuary with His own precious blood, accomplishing eternal redemption. ✍🏾The Power of His Precious Blood It is sin that separates man from God. No human effort, sacrifice, or ritual can remove this barrier. Only the precious blood of Christ, shed once on the Cross, has the power to cleanse the soul and reconcile humanity to God. As it is written: “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7) And again: “He reconciled both to God in one body through the Cross, having slain the enmity thereby.” (Ephesians 2:16–18) Through this single, perfect sacrifice, Christ destroyed the wall of separation and opened the way for mankind to be united once again with the Father. ✍🏾The Eternal Priesthood and Mediation of Our Lord Jesus Christ In the Old Testament, priests bore the judgments and sins of God’s people, serving as shadows and symbols of the true priesthood to come (Exodus 28:30; Leviticus 4:20). Yet these priests were mortal—many served, but death prevented them from continuing in their office. However, Christ, our High Priest, holds an unchangeable priesthood because He lives forever to make intercession for us. As it is written: “There were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing; but He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore, He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:23–25) This holy work of intercession accomplished through His flesh and blood—is the only sacrifice that stands for the redemption of our souls. Nothing else can stand before God or make us stand righteous before Him. For Scripture declares: “There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all.” (1 Timothy 2:5–6) Only Christ, the Lamb of God, who took on flesh, can stand between us and the Father. Through Him, the wall of separation that stood as a shadow has been broken down. Our Lord Himself proclaimed: “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6) Thus, the call to all who believe and obey His eternal Word is: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) It is a grave misunderstanding to view the loving God—who calls out “Come to Me… draw near to Me”—as harsh or unmerciful. Since He is our Father, He desires that we approach Him with the spirit of humble sonship, crying, “Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15; cf. James 4:7–8) Our Savior did not say, “Whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive,” apart from His mediation, but rather: “Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:13–14) Therefore, all prayer, worship, and supplication must pass through the mediation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone who departs from this truth turns aside from the clear teaching of the Holy Scriptures, as it is written:(Colossians 2:16–18) Continues 👇🏾
