Continued 👇🏾 ✍🏾The Commemoration of Tikimt 27 According to the order of Demetrius, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church commemorates the Crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ on Tikimt 27 every year, giving thanks for the redemption accomplished on the Cross. On this same day, the Church also remembers Abune Meba Zion, the holy father who lived in the 15th century. When he prayed to the Lord, saying, “Show me the sufferings You endured on the Friday of Your Passion,” our Lord Jesus Christ revealed to him the full vision of His sufferings. From that day forward, Abune Meba Zion lived in deep remembrance of the Passion of Christ. Out of holy compassion, he would strike his back with a whip and beat his head with a rod, meditating upon the thirteen sufferings of the Cross. He wept continually until he lost his sight. But the Holy Virgin Mary, our compassionate Mother, appeared to him carrying a cup of light and anointed his eyes, restoring his sight. Because of this miraculous mercy, he is called “The Rod of Mary.” Therefore, the 27th of Tikimt is a day of covenant and remembrance a day on which the faithful recall the suffering, death, and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ and the covenant made with Abune Meba Zion. On this holy day, the Church celebrates with reverence and gratitude, saying: “By His Cross, He has exalted our fathers, and by His Word, He has enlightened the righteous.” Through the Cross, the world has received salvation, and through His suffering, we have received life. May the blessings and intercession of Abune Meba Zion, and the mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, be upon us forever. Amen. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends:https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
