👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾The #Intercession of Our Lady, the #Holy #Virgin #Mary (Part 17) Dear followers of the Orthodox faith, greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May the peace and mercy of God be with you all. Today, we continue our spiritual lesson on the topic: “Our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary Her Intercession. May all who read and reflect on this teaching receive wisdom and spiritual growth. ✍🏾The Covenant of Intercession Granted to the Virgin Mary God, who made a covenant with His chosen ones, saying, “I have made a covenant with my chosen” (Psalm 89:3), granted a unique and holy covenant to the Virgin Mary a covenant of spiritual motherhood and mercy. According to the Snksar of Zewereha (Tikimt), God promised that blessings would be given to all who remember her, call upon her name, or even give a cup of cold water to the poor and needy in her honor. The prophet David, by divine revelation, testified to this covenant, saying:“The queen stands at your right hand, clothed in gold and adorned with splendor.” (Psalm 45:9) This means that the Holy Virgin stands always at the right hand of her Son, interceding for us with motherly compassion. ✍🏾We, the children of the Church, constantly call upon her with reverence, saying: “Pure Virgin Mary, the faithful Mother of God, intercessor of mercy for mankind pray for us to your beloved Son, that He may forgive us our sins.” These words echo the beautiful prayer of Saint Ephrem, found in Wudasie Maryam Ze’arb (The Praise of Mary of Wednesday). Likewise, Abba Giorgis Ze Gascha prayed: “O Holy Virgin Mary, I trust in you that you may save me from hidden suffering and from every visible danger in this world, and in the world to come, from the gnashing of teeth and the torment of hell. I do not trust in chariots nor in horses, but in you and your Son.” (Arganon Ze’ehud) Indeed, the Virgin never abandons those who trust in her intercession. ✍🏾The First Miracle through the Intercession of the Virgin The first miracle that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ performed through the intercession of His Blessed Mother took place at the wedding in Cana of Galilee, as recorded by the Apostle Saint John in the second chapter of his Gospel. ✍🏾The Meaning of “Cana” The word “Cana” signifies sweetness or fragrance a fitting description of the mystery of this holy event. In the history of the Church, Cana was one of the districts of Galilee. Though its name might sound ordinary, it became a place of divine glory, for there our Lord, the King of Heaven, revealed His power through the intercession of His Holy Mother. ✍🏾The word “miracle” literally means a sign something that surpasses the laws of nature and the limits of created power. A miracle is an act of God that reveals His divine authority. Every work of God, from the creation of the world to the redemption of mankind, bears the mark of wonder. This is why He is called El Shaddai, the Almighty. God, in His great love for His creation, also granted His chosen servants the grace to perform miracles for the salvation and strengthening of His people. In the Old Testament, Moses divided the sea, brought down manna from heaven, and struck the rock to bring forth water. Elijah called down fire from heaven and raised the dead. Truly, the entire Holy Bible is a book of miracles a living testimony to the power and mercy of God. In the New Testament, our Lord Jesus Christ performed countless miracles and bestowed the gift of miraculous works upon His apostles. “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils.” (Matthew 10:8) “These signs shall follow those who believe.” (Mark 16:17) The apostles fulfilled these words through the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 3:6; 5:12; 8:6; 9:33–43; 14:8; 19:11).
