✍🏾 the Danger of False Teachers”
✍🏾 Some, out of ignorance and arrogance, call themselves “teachers” and spread false doctrines. It is not only those who live far from good sources of holy teaching who fall into this error.
✍🏾 There are those who place themselves in positions of authority within church councils where the fountain of living water flows yet they suffocate the true system of the Church. They imitate the practices of Western and other Eastern seminaries, surround themselves with hypocrisy, adorn themselves with fine clothes and jewelry, claim titles that are not rightfully theirs, and separate the Orthodox councils from the true teaching, tradition, and wisdom handed down by our holy fathers. They seek applause and admiration rather than serve God faithfully.
✍🏾Such people, though called “pearls” or “precious stones” as a symbol of the Church, act as a veil over the true teaching of the Church, obscuring its light for those who seek it.
✍🏾 They cause the Church to be judged not by her true teaching, but by the simplistic or superficial teachings of those who are hypocritical or corrupted by worldly gain. As a result, many faithful are left without receiving the true pearl of the Church the wisdom of salvation.
✍🏾A Call to Return to True Teaching
Because of such confusion, many
simple believers have been deprived of the pure pearl of the Church.
Instead of meditating upon the mystery of “the support of our nature,” they have become entangled in the traps set by the enemy losing the spirit of discernment and the beauty of Orthodox faith.
Therefore, the admonition of our holy father, Saint George, remains ever relevant for this generation:
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
