✍🏾The Power of Her Intercession
When the angel Gabriel greeted our Lady, he said,
“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” (Luke 1:30)
This means that she was granted honor, favor, and the divine power of intercession.
Therefore, our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary, is trusted to intercede for humanity.
She is the pure dove of Noah, preserved by God when the world was destroyed by the flood that punished sin.
Through her purity and obedience, she became the Mother of Mercy, who opens the door of compassion for all who are bound by the chains of sin and seek forgiveness through her intercession.
(From the book “Hail Mary,” Interpretation of the Gospel of Luke)
One of the clearest passages in the Holy Scriptures that reveals the power of our Lady’s intercession is the story of the Wedding at Cana of Galilee, written by the beloved Evangelist Saint John.
At this wedding, our Lord Jesus Christ was present with His Mother and His disciples.
“When the wine ran out, the Mother of Jesus said to Him, ‘They have no wine.’” (John 2:3)
Our compassionate Mother quickly understood the sorrow of the bride and groom.
In the twinkling of an eye, she interceded on their behalf just as the Prophet Isaiah prophesied,
"swift cloud…” (Isaiah 19:1)
👉🏾This “swift cloud” symbolizes the Virgin Mary, who hastens to help those in distress.
At that crucial moment, she arrived as a merciful helper, saving the bride and groom from humiliation.
✍🏾Her intercession moved her Son, our Lord and God, Jesus Christ, to perform His first miracle, turning water into wine thus revealing His divine glory and affirming the power of His Mother’s intercession for all who believe.
✍🏾This prompt and merciful intercession of our Lady is beautifully described by Blessed Abune Gorgorios, who wrote:
“Our Lady, the Virgin Mary, is a compassionate Mother who quickly understands the problems of people and presents them to her Son.”(History of the Ethiopian Church, by His Holiness Abune Gorgorios)
Our Lady, who immediately perceived the need at the wedding, did not approach her Son with pride or command , but with deep humility.
She did not say, “My Son,” nor did she remind Him, “I am Your Mother.”Instead, she simply and humbly said,
“They have no wine.” (John 2:3)
How wonderful is this humility and compassion! Her Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, heard her plea, and by His divine power turned the water into wine performing His first miracle at the wedding in Cana.
Through this event, the intercession of our Holy Mother was revealed clearly and widely, teaching all believers that her prayers are powerful and filled with mercy.
Our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary, has been granted an eternal covenant by God.
Her intercession and maternal care for the faithful have never ceased and will continue forever.
To this day, she stands beside her Son as our ever-present helper and intercessor, praying for mercy upon the world, guiding the repentant, comforting the sorrowful, and leading all who trust in her to the love of her beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Part 17 Continues ...
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
