Beloved children of the Holy Church, peace and grace be multiplied unto you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Today, with humble hearts, we continue our lesson about the intercession and merciful help of our Holy Mother, the Virgin Mary.May all who read and learn from it be strengthened in faith and understanding.
✍🏾The Gift of the Cross and the Mother Given to Us
Among all the gifts, the most special and loving is the gift given at the foot of the Cross. God the Son, fully God, united with humanity, took flesh from her, and through her, He was revealed in the world. This great gift was entrusted to us: our Mother, our Lady, the Holy of Holies, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, and the Mother of Mercy.
Before God the Father gave His only Son to the world, the Holy Virgin gave herself completely to God, saying:
“…Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to Thy word…” Luke 1:38
Through this humble obedience, she became the dwelling place of God’s Son, and later, The Holy Apostle John received her into the care of the Church, recognizing her as the Mother of God and the eternal intercessor for all believers
✍🏾 The Prophecy of the Holy Virgin Mary
There is no woman in the Holy Scriptures for whom so many prophecies have been written as for our Mother, the Holy Virgin Mary.
Even in the Old Testament, she is symbolized in many symbols and events:
👉🏾Noah’s dove of peace
👉🏾The sign of salvation
👉🏾Abraham’s tent
👉🏾The mount of Sinai
👉🏾The tablets of Moses
👉🏾Joshua’s testimony
👉🏾Elijah’s golden basket
👉🏾Aaron’s rod
👉🏾gedion's( tsemr)
👉🏾The Tent of Meeting
👉🏾Daniel’s high mountain
👉🏾Noah’s covenant sign (the rainbow)
👉🏾The Tree of Life
👉🏾Jacob’s ladder in the bush
👉🏾Elisha’s pitcher
👉🏾The enclosed plant and sealed fountain
✍🏾All these examples point to and are fulfilled in our Lady, the Holy Virgin Mary, who embodies purity, holiness, and the fulfillment of God’s plan.
✍🏾The Humility and Intercession of Our Holy Mother, the Virgin Mary
Even when she was told that she would become the Mother of God, our Lady humbly offered her thanks, saying,
“He has looked upon the lowliness of His handmaiden.”
(Luke 1:48)
👉🏾Saint James the Elder says,
“She was full of holiness in the sight of God, and He was pleased to dwell in her pure womb. There is no one as humble as the Virgin Mary, who humbled herself before God.”
Saint Ephrem praises her, saying,
“O mountain, who spoke humbly…”
This Virgin, who was as high as a mountain in holiness, lowered herself like a valley in humility. In her heart she wondered,
“How can such a great gift be granted to me?”
✍🏾We are deeply moved by this motherly humility. Truly, O Virgin, how can such grace and thanksgiving be withheld from you? Are you not chosen to give birth to the Creator of heaven and earth? You carried the divine flame you did what heaven and earth could not do.
✍🏾Therefore, we thank and honor you, O our Lady, Holy Virgin Mary, who is full of grace. Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, is perfect before God true God from true God. You are His Mother, and through your prayers, you intercede for the world.
✍🏾Among all creation, none is more merciful and compassionate toward those who believe in your intercession and approach you in repentance. You are our Mother and our helper before your beloved Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
