👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾Why the #Intercession of the #Saints Is Necessary ( Part 6) Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,we greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, who has called us to holiness and to the fellowship of His saints. Today, with hearts full of faith, we continue our reflection on the sacred mystery of the intercession of the saints, learning why God reveals His divine will to His chosen friends and how their prayers become a light for the world. The Intercession of Moses Let us look at another story that reveals the power of the intercession of the saints. At one time, the people of Israel whom God Himself had created, nourished, and cared for with countless miracles turned away from Him and worshipped idols. Because of their stubbornness, the Lord was moved to destroy them. Scripture says, “And the Lord said to Moses, ‘I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people. Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may destroy them; and I will make of you a great nation.’” (Exodus 32:9–10) But Moses, the faithful servant and intercessor, stood before the Lord in prayer and said: “Remember Your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, to whom You swore by Yourself, saying, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’” (Exodus 32:13) Through this fervent prayer, the wrath of God was turned away, and the people were spared. The Intercession of Job and the Power of the Righteous Prayer The story of Job also teaches us the strength and holiness of intercessory prayer. After Job’s trials, the Lord spoke to his companions, who had sinned by speaking falsely about God. The Lord said to them: “My servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his face, that I may not deal with you according to your folly.” (Job 42:8) Here we see that God accepted Job’s prayer on behalf of others more readily than their own. The Lord Himself declared that the prayer of the righteous is more pleasing to Him than the words of those who live in error. The holiness of the intercessor gives weight to his supplication; righteousness makes the prayer powerful before God. The Apostle John also confirms this truth, saying: “This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1 John 5:14) The saints, being filled with the Spirit and purified from all selfish desire, pray only according to the will of God. Their hearts are united with His will, and therefore, their prayers are always heard. As it is written in the Proverbs, “The desire of the righteous is only good.” (Proverbs 11:23) Intercession of the Saints During Their Earthly Life God shows mercy and forgiveness for the sake of His saints while they are still in the flesh. Their prayers are a shield for others, their righteousness a light that softens divine judgment. Consider Abraham, the father of faith. When the Holy Trinity visited his house and revealed that Sodom was about to be destroyed for its wickedness, Abraham burning with compassion stood before the Lord and pleaded for the city. He asked whether the Judge of all the earth would destroy the righteous along with the wicked. Patiently and humbly, he interceded until he reached the plea, “If there be ten righteous found there, will You spare it for their sake?” (Genesis 18:16–32) The Lord accepted Abraham’s intercession, for the prayer of the righteous is precious before Him. Though the city perished for its great sin, God showed that He delights in mercy, and that even one saint can move His compassion for many. Continues 👇🏾
