    The Repose of the Righteous

Abune Gebre Menfes Kidus the Repose Of

Continued 👇🏾 The Repose of the Righteous Abune Gebre Menfes kidus The repose of the righteous father, Abune Gebre Menfes Kidus, is commemorated on Megabit 5, which falls during the period of the Great Lent. According to Article 15 of the Book of the Feteha Negest , no feast or celebration is to be held during this sacred time of fasting and repentance. Since the season of Lent is one of mourning and spiritual reflection, drums are not beaten, songs are not sung, and applause is not heard the faithful observe it in solemn silence and contrition. For this reason, the Feast of the Crucifixion, originally observed on Megabit 27, was moved to Tikimt 27 and the The repose of the righteous father, Abune Gebre Menfes Kidus, celebrated on Tikimt 5. This change has remained part of the Church’s holy tradition. Our father, the righteous Abune Gebre Menfes Kidus, lived in Ethiopia for 262 years, and after 562 years of spiritual service and divine endurance, he peacefully departed from this world on a Sunday, entrusting his soul to the Lord, who delivers His saints from suffering. The angels carried him in a circle of fire to Jerusalem and laid his blessed body in a holy resting place. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends:https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
