    Why Is an Intercessor Needed

Continued 👇🏾 👉🏾 Why Is an Intercessor Needed? The necessity of intercession springs from both divine mercy and human weakness. For though all may lift their voices in prayer, not all stand in equal favor before the throne of God. The Lord, who is holy, delights in the prayers of His saints, for their hearts are purified and their lives are adorned with righteousness. Thus, the intercession of the saints is needed: First, because God accepts the prayers of His saints more readily than those of sinners. Second, because through them our prayers ascend more swiftly to heaven, and our Creator, moved by their faithfulness, performs His goodness upon us. The saints, like fragrant incense, carry our petitions upward; through them the prayers of the Church rise as one harmonious voice before the Almighty. As it is written in the Book of Enoch, “The righteous who dwell in heaven with one voice give thanks together and make intercession for men.” (Enoch 12:34). They pray not for themselves alone, but for all the children of men, fulfilling the covenant of love entrusted to them by God. Throughout the Holy Scriptures, we behold examples of this sacred ministry. Many have stood as intercessors before the Lord and have obtained mercy for others. When our father Abraham journeyed into Gerar, and King Abimelech took Sarah into his house, God appeared to the king in a dream, saying: “Return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you shall live.” (Genesis 20:7). The Lord commanded that Abraham pray for Abimelech because Abraham was righteous and chosen as His prophet. Through Abraham’s intercession, the punishment that was to fall upon Abimelech was turned aside, and mercy triumphed over judgment. So too do the saints, by their prayers, intercede for us standing before God on behalf of the faithful, so that we may be spared from the sufferings that our sins deserve. Their voices rise like morning light over a darkened earth, pleading for mercy where there should be wrath. As the Psalmist testifies: “For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.” (Psalm 33:15). Conclusion Therefore, beloved, the intercession of the saints is not only an ornament of our faith but its living breath the ceaseless prayer of love that unites the Church on earth with the Church in heaven. Through their prayers, we are upheld; through their love, we are reconciled; and through their holiness, we are reminded of the mercy of God, who delights to save through those who are His friends. Part 4 Continues ... May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
