Practical and pastoral consequences
What then should the faithful do, hearing these truths?
Pray for one another: make intercession a daily task. Let the household, the Church, and every faithful person carry the burdens of others before God.
Honor the holy intercessors: respect and seek the prayers of the saints and of the Theotokos, for they stand before God and plead with motherly and fatherly love. Yet place no trust in the intercessor to the point of neglecting repentance.
Repent personally: the one for whom others pray must show forth repentance and a willing heart to abandon sin. Intercession works with repentance; it does not replace it.
Beware presumption: do not sin thinking that another’s prayer will remove all consequence. The lesson warns sharply against such sacrilege; God’s mercy is not a cloak for stubborn lawlessness.
Part 3 Continues ...
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
