    The Mystery of Our Mother

    the Holy Virgin Mary

👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾The Mystery of Our Mother, the #Holy #Virgin Mary Beloved in Christ, let us lift our hearts in thanksgiving and praise, for today we meditate upon the mystery of Our Mother, the Holy Virgin Mary the ark of life, the cloud of blessing, and the rainbow of the covenant. Mary as the Rainbow of God’s Covenant When the waters of the flood subsided and Noah, the righteous, came forth from the ark, he offered sacrifice before the Lord. In that moment, God made a covenant with Noah and with all flesh, saying: “I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth” (Gen. 9:13). This rainbow was more than the refracted light of heaven—it was a divine mystery, a prophecy hidden for ages and revealed in Christ through His Mother. For as the rainbow shines with many colors, so too the Virgin bore within herself the fullness of grace, adorned with every virtue, and became the sign of peace between heaven and earth. Noah lamented, fearing the sins of his children would once again provoke the wrath of God. But the Lord, in His mercy, declared that He would not again destroy the earth with water. Instead, He gave the rainbow as a remembrance of His covenant. The Lord revealed this prophecy to Noah, declaring that a creation formed from the four elements would not again destroy mankind with a flood. Instead, the cloud itself was a symbol of the Holy Virgin Mary, through whom the Son would take flesh from His Mother’s body and a human soul from her soul, be born, and bring salvation to mankind. Thus, the rainbow was not only a symbol of reprieve from destruction, but a prophecy of salvation through the Incarnation. Witness of the Fathers and Scholars The great Fathers of the Church discerned this mystery with spiritual eyes. Saint Ephrem the Syrian, with piercing wisdom, declared that the Virgin is the living cloud who bore the Sun of Righteousness. Abba Giorgis Ze Gasicha, in his Enzira Sibhat holy book, praises her as the covenant itself: “You are the rainbow, the sign of peace, that the rain of wrath shall not fall upon the earth again.” Abba Tsige Dengel and Abba Gebre Mariam, in their Mahlete Tsige Holy book, testify that the Virgin is the rainbow of salvation, given to Noah as a mystery, fulfilled in the flesh of the Mother of God. Indeed, Ethiopia, the cherished homeland of the Virgin, has preserved this truth with profound devotion. The faithful call the rainbow “Mary’s Mekenet” the throne of Mary. For just as the rainbow crowns the sky with its brilliance, so the Virgin crowns the earth with her intercession. The Intercession of Our Mother Beloved, no matter how great our sins, we are not abandoned. the Virgin Mary, standing beneath the Cross of her Son at Golgotha, received the promise of intercession. She prays unceasingly for her children, entreating her Son to show mercy, to forgive, and to bless us. She is not only the rainbow of Noah but also the ladder of Jacob, the bush of Moses, the temple of Solomon, and the tabernacle of glyory. Through her, heaven was opened, and through her, the wrath that we deserved was stayed. Therefore, we cry out: O Holy Virgin Mary, rainbow of covenant, intercede for us before your Son! Obtain for us forgiveness, and bless us with your maternal love, which never departs from the faithful. Conclusion Let us then honor her, not with lips alone, but with lives adorned with purity, humility, and charity. For she who bore God in her womb calls us to bear Him in our hearts. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
