Therefore, his life is a lamp for every age. To the humble, he shows humility, for he confessed, “I am not the Christ.” To the courageous, he shows boldness, for he reproved kings without fear. To the pure, he shows holiness, for he lived in the wilderness in fasting and prayer. To the faithful, he shows steadfastness, for he endured imprisonment and death rather than betray the truth.
His witness endures even now in the Church. Each year, the faithful commemorate his birth, his baptism of Christ, his martyrdom, and the transfer of his holy relics. His name is remembered in the liturgy, his call to repentance is proclaimed in every generation, and his example stands as a bridge between the Old Covenant and the New.
Thus, John’s life is not bound to history; it is a living testimony. His voice still cries to us today: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” His lamp still shines to guide us until we come into the full light of the Sun of Righteousness, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Saint John received his covenant on Meskerem His life and teachings, the wonders and miracles he performed, the covenant given to him by God, and his martyrdom are all extensively recorded in his writings.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
