    The Elete Qemer the First

Day of the Year the Ethiopian System

Continued 👇🏾 The "Elete Qemer" – The First Day of the Year The Ethiopian system also discerns the weekday upon which the New Year (Meskerem 1) falls. Elete Qemer =Year of the World + Month of Rabi’it ÷ 7 = (7518 + 1879) ÷ 7 = 9397 ÷ 7 = 1342 {remainder is 3} If remainder = 3, the year begins on a Thursday. Thus, the Ethiopian year 2018 start on a Thursday. Meskerem 1st is used If the remainder is 0, it is Monday If the remainder is 1, it is Tuesday If the remainder is 2, it is Wednesday If the remainder is 3, it is Thursday If the remainder is 4, it is Friday If the remainder is 5, it is Saturday If the remainder is 6, it is the beginning of Sunday The Sacred Days of the Calendar The Ethiopian reckoning roots itself in the days of creation: Sunday(" Tinte E'let") – the day the world was created, the first day of light. Tuesday ( " Tinte kemer")– the day plants and living creatures came forth, and the day the calendar itself began. Wednesday(" Tinte yon") – the day the sun, moon, and stars were set in the heavens. These three days form the foundation of Ethiopian time: the dawn of the cosmos, the ordering of life, and the shining of heavenly lights. Thus, the calendar is not arbitrary but woven into the very fabric of Genesis. Brothers and sisters, the Ethiopian time system is not just a way of counting days. It is a theology of time: It remembers creation. It points to Christ’s coming. It honors the Evangelists who proclaimed salvation. It orders the year according to God’s works. Every New Year reminds us that our life is moving within God’s plan. Time began with Adam, was redeemed by Christ, and will be fulfilled when He returns in glory. As St. Paul says: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8). Let us then live our days wisely, offering every year and every moment back to Him. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends:https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
