Raphael Among the Angels
Raphael is one of the seven princes who stand before the throne of God. As he himself declared in the Book of Tobit: “I am Raphael, one of the seven princes of glory” (Tobit 12:15). In the beginning, when God created the angelic hosts, He placed Raphael over many tribes of angels, and in Ramah he established him as leader of the mighty ones. Thus, he is not only a healer of men but a commander of angels, ever ready to serve the will of the Most High.
Pagume and the Second Coming
Finally, Pagume calls to our remembrance the return of Christ. In the hymns of the Church, sung during these days, we proclaim His coming in majesty, His judgment of the nations, and the establishment of the new age. The shortness of this month reminds us that time itself will come to an end, and that eternity will soon begin.
Thus, every day of Pagume is a summons to repentance, a call to purity, a preparation for the Lord who is to come.
Conclusion
Beloved, let us not spend these days in vain indulgence but in sober watchfulness. Let us fast with sincerity, pray with faith, and if possible, partake in the mystery of baptism with holy water blessed by the Archangel Raphael. Then, reconciled to God, we shall receive healing for body and soul, peace for our homes, and blessings for the year ahead.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
