Must the prayer of the faithful only be lifted in the temple, or does it also ascend when uttered in the quiet of the household? The answer is found in the Scriptures and in the life of the Church: prayer is not bound by walls or doors, for wherever the faithful heart is lifted to God, there heaven opens and the angels bear it before the throne of the Almighty. The saints of old and the holy apostles have shown us the hours of prayer, each hour rich with divine mystery. Let us consider them carefully, and learn how prayer sanctifies not only the temple, but also our homes. The Ninth Hour of Prayer At the ninth hour what we call (9 a.m) in the afternoon the angels of God receive the prayers, supplications, and incense of mankind. This is not an invention of man, but witnessed in the Scriptures: โ€œPeter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.โ€ (Acts 3:1) Cornelius, the centurion, prayed at this hour with earnest heart, and the heavens answered him. (Acts 10:3, 9) But more than this, the ninth hour is sanctified forever, for it was at this very hour that our Lord Jesus Christ bowed His head upon the cross and delivered His holy soul into the hands of the Father. At this time, therefore, we remember His suffering, His death, His immeasurable poverty for our sake. Thus, beloved, whether you are in the temple or in your home, sanctify the ninth hour with prayer. Call to mind the crucifixion of Christ. Let your heart be broken in remembrance of His sacrifice, and pray that as Cornelius received mercy, so also your prayer may be accepted by the holy angels and reconciled before God. The Evening prayer( 12:00 pm) The time of the evening prayer is as a Sabbath hour, for just as laborers receive their wages, so too the faithful receive reward for their works. Christ Himself likened the kingdom to laborers in the vineyard, each receiving from the Master his just due. (Matthew 20:1โ€“16) David declared: โ€œLet my prayer be set forth before Thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.โ€ (Psalm 140:2) Elijah, at this very hour, offered his sacrifice, and the Holy Trinity accepted it in fire. (1 Kings 18:36) Ezra, likewise, humbled himself in prayer at this hour. (Ezra 9:5) Most wondrous of all, at this time our Lord descended into the grave according to the flesh, and into hell according to the soul, to bring forth mankind from the shadow of death. (Matthew 27:45โ€“61) Therefore, when you pray in your home at this hour, remember that Christ entered the depths for your sake, to break open the prison of death and lead you into eternal life. The Prayer of the Night (3:00pm)(Before Sleep) When the day is done and night falls, the faithful commend themselves into the hands of God. We do not know what awaits us in our sleep, but the Shepherd of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. He guards His flock by day and by night. Thus, before resting, let every home lift up prayer. Recall the agony of Gethsemane, where the Lord prayed in the night and taught His disciples to watch with Him. (Matthew 26:36) Entrust your household to the Creator with faith, saying, โ€œPeace be upon us, for He watches over us.โ€ Continues ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ
