    The Prophets Foretell Her Son

God Swore to David That From His

Continued 👇🏾 The Prophets Foretell Her Son God swore to David that from his line would come the One who would sit upon his throne (Ps. 131:1). Bethlehem, the “house of bread,” was chosen as His birthplace (Mic. 5:2; John 6:51). Saint Jerome hails it: “O house of bread, from you is born the Bread that came down from heaven.” From here the Shepherd of Israel would arise, the One whose goings forth are from everlasting. The Water of Bethlehem and the Martyrs’ Example When David longed for water from Bethlehem’s well (2 Sam. 23:15–17), his warriors risked their lives to bring it. David, seeing the price they had paid, poured it out before the Lord it was their blood. So too, the martyrs despised the sweetness of this world and shed their blood for God. As David poured out the water for God’s glory, so the saints poured out their lives, and we are called to follow their steadfastness in the spiritual battle. The Humility of the Incarnation He who saw humanity crushed under the serpent’s heel humbled Himself to take our nature not that of angels but flesh from the Virgin’s womb (Isa. 59:6; Heb. 4:14). Born in Bethlehem, He redeemed us by His blood (Eph. 1:7), drawing near to us who were once far from the covenant (Eph. 2:11–13). Thus, brethren, let us praise the Virgin, the Cross, and her divine Son. Let us beseech her purity and holiness to keep us from losing the grace and glory purchased by Christ. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends:https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
