    Purity in Virginity and Holiness

    #purity
    #virginity
    #holiness
πŸ‘‰πŸΎπŸ‘‰πŸΎπŸ‘‰πŸΎ#Purity in #Virginity and #Holiness Beloved children of the Church, heirs of the covenant of Christ, today we meditate upon a mystery that shines brighter than the sun the purity of virginity, the holiness of the Ever-Virgin, our Lady, the Theotokos. For she is holy, pure, undefiled, and glorious beyond compare, unique among all creation. 1. The Purity of Mary is unlike all others. Consider the women of old who were called pure prophetesses and righteous ones, who indeed were kept holy through the guidance of the prophets and the commandments. Yet their purity was earthly, external, and imperfect, for it was not sealed by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit. But the Virgin, our Lady, is pure not only by the prophets, not only by her own obedience, but also by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Thus her purity is triple: of the Law, of her will, and of the Spirit who sanctified her womb. 2. Her purity is unbroken in every stage.Other women, even if they be called pure, are tested and tried at times, and their purity may waver. But the Virgin is undefiled before conception, during conception, and after conception. She is pure before birth, in the pangs of childbirth, and after the birth of her divine Son. At every stage of her life before, during, and after her holiness shines forth untainted. For the fire entered her womb, yet the bush was not consumed; the Word took flesh, yet her virginity was not diminished. 3. Her honor surpasses all women. We honor mothers who bring forth prophets, righteous men, or martyrs; their fruit is noble. Yet what is their dignity compared to hers who bore God Himself? She is not merely mother of saints, but Mother of God, the true Theotokos, who carried Him whom the heavens cannot contain. If the martyrs are crowned, she is the crown of crowns. 4. Her virginity is unique. There has never been another woman united to virginity as she was virgin before birth, virgin in birth, virgin after birth. This union of motherhood and virginity is reserved for her alone. Therefore, beloved, as children of the Virgin, let us not cease to call upon her name with faith. If we have strength, let us pray to her with fervent words; if our strength is small, let us at least remember her with faith and partake of the blessing of her covenant, for her very remembrance is grace. And now, brethren, let us not defile the gift we have seen in her by our negligence. Let not the sins we have gathered during fasting and Sabbath return upon us. Rather, let us root ourselves in the word of Christ, bear fruit in the Gospel, and fight against our adversary the devil, remembering always the purity of the Virgin as our shield. Let her name be ever upon our tongues, and her love be planted deep in our hearts, so that in purity, virginity, and holiness we may glorify her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen.
