Interpretation Preserved by the Fathers
Our Holy Fathers preserved divine mysteries, not in plain speech but in layers of interpretation. For example, a mysterious notation“1du”was found near the phrase “Book of Birth” in the Gospel. When interpreted by the Fathers, it revealed deeper Christological truths:
St. Matthew: Presents Christ as born from David, revealing His humanity.
St. Mark: Emphasizes the divine declaration, “You are My Son.”
St. Luke: Reveals the full humanity and divinity of Christ.
St. John: Declares, “In the beginning was the Word,” lifting our minds to the eternal Logos.
The Coming of the False Messiah and the True
The Apocalypse warns of a counterfeit Messiah who shall command, “Write my name on your foreheads”and his number is 666 (Revelation 13:18).
This false Christ mimics the true yet his name is deception.
Contrast this with the Lord who wrote His Name upon the Ark, the angel’s wings, and now upon our hearts through baptism and the Eucharist.
Let us be wise, then, to discern between the authentic inscription of God’s Name and the false imitations of the devil.
In the New Testament: Ark and Worship
St. Paul affirmed the existence and holiness of the Ark. He did not say “we are the Ark,” as modern confusion suggests. He upheld the reverence due to the Ark because God’s Name was upon it.
The 318 Holy Fathers of the Council (Nicea) determined that the Ark should be both movable and immovable capable of being borne like the original, but fixed in sanctity. Wherever it stands, there we bow (Psalm 131:7):
“We worship at His footstool; we worship where He is.”
This is not idolatry it is obedience to God’s pattern of revealed worship.
The Continuity of the Name
The Name of God is unchanging from the Torah to the Gospel, from yesterday to today. What was sacred in the days of Moses remains sacred in Christ, for:
“At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.” (Philippians 2:10)
This Name is not a mere label. It is power, it is presence, it is person.
Final Admonition
Let no one come to rule over us with foreign doctrines, saying the Ark is no longer needed, or that its reverence is idolatrous. Such people neither understand the mystery nor fear the Name.
We worship the Ark not because it is an object, but because it carries the Name.
We worship at the footstool of our Lord, not because it is material, but because He stands there.
We worship not in ignorance, but according to the wisdom passed down from the Fathers.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
