Martyrdom and Victory
After every fiery trial, and every torment from men and demons, they received the divine call to eternal rest. At midnight, their holy necks were severed, and they entered the joy of their Lord. It was the 15th of Tir, a day sanctified by their martyrdom and sealed with the crown of life, as promised in the Book of Revelation: “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Rev. 2:10)
They despised the vanities of the world and clung to the love of Christ. Their hearts echoed the apostolic cry of Saint Paul:
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come... shall separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38)
A Legacy of Courage and Intercession
Through their steadfastness, not only did they gain salvation for themselves, but 11,004 souls were added to the company of martyrs by the intercession of Saint Gabriel. What man or woman can measure the fruit of one soul’s faithfulness?
Their example compels us: when we are mocked for our faith, when we are rejected for the sake of the Gospel, let us recall the words of Saint Kirkos:
“Take courage! Do not be afraid!”
And let us say to our souls likewise:
“Endure, O my soul, endure for Christ’s sake!”
The Role of the Angelic Host
Let us not forget the ministry of the holy angels, and especially the vigilant protection of Saint Gabriel, who ministered to the martyrs as he once announced glad tidings to the Virgin. The Scripture affirms:
“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” (Psalm 34:7)
So, let us cry out to Saint Gabriel with childlike trust:
“We trust in God, day and night, and hope in your prayers!”
He who protected Eyeluta and Kirkos shall also shield us from the snares of the enemy.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
