Earthly Shadows of Heavenly Truths
Even our modern technologies serve as a parable. Consider the digital server created by the ingenuity of man it can communicate simultaneously with millions across the globe. Facebook, an invention of fallen humanity, coordinates billions of interactions at once. Shall we then struggle to believe that one holy angel, created by God in perfect purity, can reach every person on earth in less than a moment? O you of little faith!
If a man-made system can perform such feats, how much more can the ministering angles of God, adorned with divine grace and moved by the command of the Most High?
The Smallness of the Earth Before the Heavenly Hosts
We boast in our globe as if it were grand. But know this: to the angelic orders, the earth is but a speck—no larger than the palm of your hand. If Jupiter, a planet of immense size, is still nothing compared to the infinite heavens, what then is our little blue sphere to the heavenly hosts?
Let no one say, “How can St. Gabriel be celebrated in Ethiopia, and in Russia, and in Greece, all on the same day?” Do you not yet understand? St. Gabriel is one angel, but his presence is not bound by place. Wherever the glory of God is manifest, his angel is glorified too.
A Final Benediction
Let us not resist what is above our minds, but adore it with reverent faith. It is Christian wisdom to pause before mystery and exclaim with the Apostle,
“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33)
Yes, the holy angel Gabriel is one but by the authority of God, he is present wherever God's glory is revealed. He reaches all people with divine swiftness, not by his own strength, but by grace. Let us honor him with faith, not doubt.
may the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
