    The Prophetic Witness Our Mother

in the Old Testament Even Before Her

Continued 👇🏾 The Prophetic Witness: Our Mother in the Old Testament Even before her birth, the Virgin was prefigured and prophesied. Behold the vision of Jacob, our father in the faith. While in exile and in solitude, he saw in a dream a ladder reaching from earth to heaven, with angels ascending and descending, and the Lord standing above it (Genesis 28:12–13). This was not a mere dream but a divine revelation: the ladder is the Virgin Mary, and the Lord who stood above it descended through her into the world. This was fulfilled in the cave of Bethlehem, when nine months and five days after the Annunciation, the Lord was born, and angels sang with shepherds, proclaiming, “Glory to God in the highest” (Luke 2:8–14). Heaven and earth were united through Our Mother. The Praise of the Church: Our Lady in the Liturgy Let us hear the voice of the Church, the Bride of Christ, who lifts her hymn of praise through the mouth of Abba Hiriakos of Bhinsau: “Oh, this is a wonderful thing! O bridge through which the ancient fathers passed from death to life, O ladder that reaches from earth to heaven, O beginning of all creation, O hope of Adam when he was exiled from Paradise.” (Liturgy of the Hours, verse 30) O wondrous words! She is not only the hope of Adam, but the renewal of our character, the sanctification of our nature, and the Mother of all who live in Christ. Conclusion: The Support of Our Character Beloved, our character is not a mask we wear, but the echo of our creation and the record of our choices. Though once fallen through the sin of the flesh, our character is now restored through Our Lady, the new Eve, the pure ladder, the glorious vessel. Let us, therefore: Revere her as the Support of Our Character,Follow her example in purity and holiness,And entrust ourselves to her intercession, that we may be made worthy of the divine image once more. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
