👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾“I Am the #Way, the #Truth, and the #Life” (John 14:6)
Brethren beloved in Christ, greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has called us from darkness into the marvelous light of His truth. Let us incline our hearts, not as those who hear and forget, but as those who plant the seed of the Word deeply into the soil of our soul, that it may bring forth the fruit of righteousness. Today, we consider the awe-filled and life-bestowing words of our Savior:
"I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life." John 14:6
In these words lies the whole gospel condensed, the entire mystery of the Incarnation expressed, and the map of salvation drawn out before our eyes. Let us walk reverently through the depth of this holy saying, not skimming its surface but descending into its depths as into a sacred wellspring.
1. The Way of Salvation is Christ Himself
When our Lord declared, “I am the Way,” He did not mean merely that He shows the way or teaches the way, but that He Himself is the very path by which we approach the Father. Just as no one can reach the summit of a mountain without walking the path that leads there, so no one can come to God without Christ. There is no alternate road, no secret shortcut; all other paths, though they may seem pleasant and broad, are false and lead only to destruction.
Indeed, there exists a false path that masquerades as truth, a broad road that leads to perdition. But Christ is the true and narrow way, and only those who walk it daily through suffering, through trial, through temptation will reach the kingdom of heaven.
He who follows this Way must be prepared, as our Lord was, to be born without honor, to be exiled for truth’s sake, to be tempted, scorned, and falsely accused. Did they not call Him a demon? Did they not scourge Him and crucify Him as a criminal? And shall we, who bear His name, expect a smoother road?
2. The Truth That Guides the Soul
Our Lord continues, “I am the Truth.” He is not merely a bearer of truth or a speaker of wise sayings; He is Truth itself—uncreated, eternal, incorruptible. To follow Christ is not only to walk a path, but to live in truth. Those who walk in lies, in deceit, in self-justification or error, are not walking with Him. The devil tempts us with many falsehoods, enticing us with the appearance of wisdom, as he tempted our Lord in the wilderness. But as Christ repelled every lie with the word of truth, so must we be armed with that same sword.
To live in Christ is to dwell in reality. It is to confess the truth about God, about ourselves, and about the world. The truth is this: that salvation is not ease, but struggle; not riches, but sacrifice; not praise, but persecution. If you are reviled for Christ’s sake, do not be surprised. Rather, rejoice. For it is written:
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 5:10)
3. The Life That Conquers Death
“I am the Life.” Just as He is the Way by which we journey, and the Truth which illuminates the path, so also is He the very Life we receive when we walk that road in truth. Apart from Christ, man is dead—even if he lives in the body. The death of Adam brought spiritual death into the world, but Christ, by His death, conquered death.
He has taken our suffering, that we might find rest. He has died our death, that we might live His life. What glory is this, that the Immortal One would embrace mortality, that we the unworthy might be made partakers of divine life!
Do not fear death in the body, dear faithful. If you suffer for Christ, you are blessed. If you lose your possessions, your homeland, even your flesh, but keep your faith, you have lost nothing. For as the Apostle Paul says:
“We carry about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” (2 Cor. 4:10)
This is not mere philosophy, but the essence of our hope: we die daily with Christ, so that we may also rise with Him in glory.
