She is the Living Temple loved by God above all the tents of Jacob (Psalm 86:2).
She is the Beautiful One, whose humility drew the King to desire her beauty (Psalm 44:10-11).
Flowers may feed the flesh with color and fruit, but our Lady gave forth the Food that feeds both body and soul the Holy Eucharist, His body and His blood (Matthew 26:26).
The Earthly and Heavenly Flower: Yet Without Thorns
What flower, O beloved, rises from the dust and remains pure? Earthly blossoms are clothed in thorns. Yet this flower, this Tsege Reda, bloomed without thorn, without stain, without sin. Though born of the earth, she is as gold drawn from the mire not of the mire, but shining, separate, sanctified.
“The Most High has sanctified His dwelling place” (Psalm 45:4).
Unlike medicinal herbs that give fleeting health, the Virgin bears Christ, the Eternal Medicine. To taste of Him is to never thirst again.
And how, O brethren, was she made fruitful? Not by the pollination of flesh, nor by seed of man, but by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit. Like Aaron’s rod, which blossomed without planting or watering, so did she blossom with divine fruit (cf. Wudasie Mariam Zehud).
What a marvel! What a mystery! She is more wondrous than all creation, for she alone bore the Uncontainable within her womb.
In Final Praise
Let no man compare her to any other, for none are like unto her. Let our tongues fall silent in awe. The saints cry, “With what shall we compare you, O Virgin?” and find no likeness.
Thus let us glorify her:
The Thornless Flower, pure and undefiled.
The Golden Lily, radiant and sanctified.
The Mother of the Incarnate Word, humble and exalted.
The Dwelling Place of the Most High, crowned by the Holy Trinity.
Let us venerate her, not with idle flattery, but with trembling hearts and obedient lives. Let us go forth and proclaim her glory to all who have ears to hear.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
