The wise Solomon, foreseeing in mystery the birth of the Virgin, speaks in the Song of Songs: “Come with me from Lebanon, my bride, come with me from the top of Amana, from Senir and Hermon, from the lions’ dens, from the mountains of leopards” (Song 4:8). This bride is none other than Mary, called out of Lebanon, the land of fragrance and purity. The land itself speaks of the purity of her soul and the nobility of her lineage.
Holy Virgin was born on Mount Lebanon on Genbot 1, 15 B.C. Even the place of her birth was prepared with care. Why Lebanon? For while she was still in the womb, miracles abounded.
She opened the eyes of Arsaba’s daughter.
She raised the son of Tolik from the dead.
These signs caused wonder, but also provoked the jealousy of the Jews. Thus, the great Archangel Gabriel appeared to Joachim, bidding him to flee with his wife to the mountains of Lebanon there, in safety and divine appointment, the Virgin was born.
4. The Birth Foretold in Vision and Parable
The mystery does not rest in prophecy alone, but was revealed in dreams and parables to the righteous. Even seven generations before her birth, holy men and women were given symbolic visions.
The saints Tekta and Petra, though barren, saw in vision a white ewe giving birth to six lambs; the sixth bore the moon, and the moon bore the sun. What can this mean?
The sixth lamb the lineage bore the moon, which is Mary, shining in purity but reflecting the divine Sun. And this moon, in her virginity, bore the true Sun of Righteousness, Christ the Lord. These were not idle dreams, but divine messages clothed in symbol, and the saints understood them.
Afterward, Tekta and Petra conceived and gave birth to a child whom they named Heemen, saying, “I have fulfilled my vow, I have obtained what I desired.” From this child arose:
Heemen begat Derden,
Derden begat Tona,
Tona begat Sikar,
Sikar begat Hermela,
Hermela begat Hannah.
Hannah, the fruit of this holy lineage, was married to Joachim, a righteous man from the house of Judah. From them came the Ever-Virgin Mary, the moon in that vision, now truly born among us.
Conclusion and Blessing
Thus, my beloved brethren, the birth of Mary is not a random happening, but the ripening of the fruit of centuries of prophecy, prayer, and promise. Her arrival is not merely to be remembered but to be venerated with awe, for she bore the Word that upholds the universe. Let her birth be to us a new beginning of hope, purity, and longing for the divine.
May her intercessions lift us from our fallenness. May her prayers shield us from despair. May her love, ever burning like incense before the throne of her Son, Jesus Christ, be kindled in our hearts forever.
May our Lady of Hope never depart from us.
May her birth awaken our souls to new life.
Through her, may the mercy of our Lord be upon us always. Amen.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
