    5 the Sabbath Rest of

    the Creator and Redeemer

    5. The Sabbath Rest of the Creator and Redeemer Let us consider the two great Sabbaths. In the beginning, after creating the heavens and the earth, God rested on the seventh day. But now, in these last days, after completing the work of redemption, Christ rests again, not in delight over creation, but in solemn victory over sin and death. This is why we call it Holy Saturday. It is holy not only because Christ is holy, but because it is the day when the souls who were imprisoned in Hades received eternal rest. As the Creator once rested from making the world, now the Redeemer rests from remaking it. This is not the rest of silence, but of sacred triumph. Hades has been emptied. The ancient chains are broken. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the righteous leap with joy. The gates of Paradise, long shut, are flung open. Christ, the New Adam, has entered in, bringing with Him all the children of the first Adam who awaited Him. Conclusion: Let All Glory Be to God Therefore, dearly beloved, as we sit beneath the shadow of the Cross and wait at the tomb with holy trembling, let us fast not only with our stomachs but with our hearts. Let us crown ourselves with thorns, but also with humility. Let us await the Resurrection, not as bystanders, but as heirs. Let the heavens rejoice and the earth be glad: for Christ has conquered, and soon He shall rise! May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends: https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
