This tree, rich in leaves, promised much by its appearance, yet bore nothing to satisfy the hunger of the Lord. It is like the soul that wears the garments of religion — speaks of faith, boasts of knowledge, outwardly flourishes — yet is barren in love, mercy, humility, and obedience.
A Warning to the Unfruitful
O beloved! Tremble at the fate of the fig tree. This is not only a history; it is a prophecy for every soul. If you are called a Christian, yet bring forth no fruit of the Spirit if the Lord visits your soul and finds only the pretense of godliness what then shall become of you?
Christ cursed the tree not out of vengeance, but as a teaching. Just as the fig tree withered, so shall every unrepentant and unfruitful soul be cut down and cast into the fire. For it is written: "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." (Matthew 7:19)
Yet, take heart! For the Lord, who curses the barren, is also the One who waters the repentant with tears of mercy. He is patient, as in the parable where the gardener pleads, "Let it alone this year also… if it bears fruit, well. If not, then you can cut it down." (Luke 13:6–9)
Final Exhortation
Therefore, dear children of the light, let us mourn and weep, not in vain despair, but in the hope of renewal. Let our temples be cleansed. Let our hearts bear fruit. Let Monday be for us a mirror of our condition and a call to repentance.
Do not wait for another season. The Lord is passing by today. May He not find you leafy and empty. May He find figs, even out of season, for with God all things are possible.
Let this Monday of Passion be not merely remembered but lived. Let your soul become a house of prayer. Let your life become fruitful. And let all glory be given to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages.

May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
