👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽“The #Son of #God was #Revealed to #Destroy the Works of the #Devil” 1 John 3:8 Beloved brethren in Christ, fellow travelers on the narrow path that leads to life, peace be upon you—the peace that surpasses understanding, the peace that Christ our God left to His disciples. Today, in union with the ancient teaching of the Holy Church and the wisdom preserved by our fathers, we contemplate a mystery so profound, so glorious, that heaven itself bows in reverent awe: the revelation of the Son of God to destroy the works of the devil. Let us begin by lifting our minds and hearts to the apostolic witness: “The Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). In this proclamation, Saint John, the beloved of the Lord, utters a truth that tears asunder the veil that concealed the eternal purpose of God in Christ Jesus. The term “revealed” here is not a mere appearance or a temporary manifestation it is the unveiling of that which was hidden from the ages, now made manifest in time for the salvation of all. This revelation is none other than the work of salvation, fulfilled not through abstraction, nor as a distant act, but through the very incarnation of the Son the Word becoming flesh. That the Son of God became man is not a poetic gesture or a symbolic act it is the defining miracle of eternity invading time. What is Revelation? Revelation, as the holy fathers declare, is this: the subtle God, uncontained by space and untouched by time, took upon Himself the limitation of flesh, without diminishing His divinity; and the flesh, bound by mortality and decay, was raised to the heights of divinity through union with the Word. Thus, the infinite dwelt in the finite, and the eternal tabernacled in the temporal. This is the mystery of the Word made flesh the Logos who in the beginning was with God and who is God (John 1:1). In this union: The first and divine nature became conformable to death not that divinity can die, but that He took on death to trample it by death. That which was subject to time (the flesh) became united to that which is outside of time. The One who could declare, “I am the First and the Last; I am He who lives, was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore” (Rev. 1:17) did so because His person bridges life and death, temporality and eternity. This is not contradiction, but mystery. This is not confusion, but the divine economy of salvation. In Him: The refined is refined again, for the Refiner has entered creation. The heavenly descended to earth, and the earthly was lifted to heaven. That which was hidden from the eyes of the prophets, the kings, and the righteous of old was made manifest in the fullness of time. Hear then the words of Saint Paul, that trumpet of divine mystery: “Great indeed is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16) This manifestation, this descent, this economy of salvation finds its birth in time through the womb of our Lady, the ever-virgin Mary. From her all-blameless body and soul, He took human flesh not as a garment to be worn and removed, but as His true and full humanity, in perfect and indissoluble union with His divinity. This is no mere tale, but the bedrock of our faith. And yet, the revelation of God unfolds in three great epochs, each radiating with divine light. I. The Law of the Heart In the beginning, before the Law was written on stone, God spoke directly to the heart of man. Through the breath of His word, He walked with Adam in the cool of the day (Gen. 3:9). To the patriarchs, He appeared in visions, dreams, and miracles—to Abraham He said, “Go from your country...” (Gen. 12:1), calling forth a people set apart for His name. Continues 👇🏽
