The Twofold Nature of Love
Love is not a singular motion of the heart but is divided into two great commandments:
1. The love of God ā the highest and holiest form of love, which commands the entire soul, mind, and strength of man.
2. The love of neighbor ā the reflection of divine love in human relationships, which binds man to his fellow with the unbreakable chain of charity.
What does it mean to love God? This question, though simple in appearance, requires a deep and holy contemplation. It is not enough to declare love with the lips; love for God must be evident in action. To love God is to obey Him, to seek Him above all things, to worship Him in spirit and in truth, and to count all things as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
