The Church’s Call to Faithfulness
Throughout this week, the Church prays that her children will be like the faithful servants who multiplied their talents, rather than the unprofitable one. This is why, in the liturgical readings, the passage about the faithful servants is read for priests, as a reminder that those who serve God must labor with diligence and devotion.
The Faithful Servant as a Model
As St. Jared teaches in his psalm, we are called to be fruitful servants, bearing thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold. This is not merely about material increase, but about the spiritual fruits we bear through our lives: charity, humility, prayer, repentance, and faithfulness to God’s commandments.
Scriptural Readings for the Week
2 Timothy 2:1-15: "Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus... Commit these things to faithful men."
1 Peter 5:1-11: "Shepherd the flock of God willingly, not for selfish gain."
Acts 1:6-8: "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you."
Psalm 39:8: "I have determined to do your will, O my God."
Matthew 25:14-30: "To each according to his ability... Well done, good and faithful servant."
The Final Call to Faithfulness
Let us, therefore, reflect deeply during this week of Geber Her. Are we investing the divine gifts we have received, or are we burying them in negligence? When the Lord returns, will He call us "good and faithful servants," or will He find us idle and fearful?
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
