And yet, none shall escape the fate appointed to all men: death. Even those who remain alive at the time of the Lord’s coming shall be changed in an instant, passing from mortality into immortality. There shall be no place for flesh and blood in the kingdom of God, for all must be transformed by the divine power of the resurrection.
The Justice of Eternal Judgment
Many, in their error, question how a merciful God could sentence the wicked to eternal death. But the Holy Scriptures reveal that divine justice and divine mercy are not in contradiction. If the wicked were not punished, then how could justice exist? God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he shall also reap (Gal. 6:7).
The Lord, who is slow to anger and abundant in mercy, nevertheless judged the world in the days of Noah, sending the flood upon the ungodly (Gen. 7:1). He cast Adam out of Paradise, not to destroy him, but to prepare the way for his redemption. Even now, He delays His judgment so that all may come to repentance. But on the appointed day, every deed shall be brought into account—whether good or evil (Eccl. 12:14).
Saint Paul, speaking to the Athenians, declared:
"He has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained, and He has given assurance of this by raising Him from the dead." (Acts 17:31)
Thus, the righteous shall receive the reward of eternal life, and the wicked shall inherit eternal death, for God is not a respecter of persons. He shall render to each according to his works.
A Call to Repentance
In light of these solemn truths, what remains for us but to live in a manner worthy of the kingdom of God? The time of repentance is now, while the door of mercy is still open. Let us not be found among those who neglected their duties, who showed no mercy to the suffering, who lived only for themselves. Instead, let us labor in righteousness, showing love to our brethren, giving freely to those in need, and preparing our souls for the coming of our Lord.
May we be counted among those to whom the King shall say:
"Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your Lord."
And may we, by the grace of God, be found worthy to inherit the kingdom prepared for us from the foundation of the world.
To Him be glory, honor, and dominion, now and forever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
