๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ1. What is #Religion?
2. Who is the Ethiopian #Orthodox Tewahedo religion?
"It was necessary for me to write to you, exhorting you to fight for the religion that was given to the saints once and for all." Jude 1:3
Dear and respected members who follow the orthodox education and spiritual service that we convey on the John's Repentance website; Based on the question mentioned in the title, we have sent you the following important lesson, so we entrust you to read and learn from it.
"Religion" means: It is the lens of conscience through which we distinguish between the creator and the creature, righteousness and condemnation, light and darkness, life and death, heaven and hell. Religion is the true way to know and reach the abstract God (Creator) that we cannot see with our fleshy eyes and can not touch with our fleshy hands.
The basis of religion is to acknowledge the Almighty Creator. Accepting your creator begins with believing in being a creature. Because there is no one who says that I was created by myself. If a person believes that he is created, then he begins to search for the creator of this world because he believes that he has a creator. Religion is the foundation of everything, and the reason we say it is a deep and subtle way is because we believe in the existence of an invisible and intangible God. The bundle is our path of light and our door of righteousness to accept God whom we worship with all our hearts and travel to the end of the world. An example of this is to look at our father Abrahamโs effort to find the creator, the story is in the bible.
The Bible uses the words faith, foundation, and way interchangeably for the word religion.. The Bible uses the words faith, foundation, and way interchangeably for the word religion.
1/ Faith
The word faith describes accepting, trusting, and acting in response to what you believe. When St. Paul explained it in terms of receiving faith, he said, "Faith is the assurance of things we hope for and the explanation of things we do not see." He said that religion is a special grace through which we can see the subtle works of God, whom we cannot see with our eyes (Hebrews 11:1).
When St. Paul explains that faith is not only accepting, but also trusting or obeying, he also mentions the story of Abraham: Although Abraham received the promise that 'in Isaac, your seed will be called'; But when he was tempted, he offered his only son Isaac in faith. This explains that faith does not end only by saying that we believe, but also by doing what we believe (Hebrews 11:17-18).
In his message, the apostle Saint James explained that faith is not only believing (accepting) but also trusting (manifesting it by works): "My brothers, what good is it if there is a man who claims to have faith but has no works (conduct)?" Can his faith save him?" he said. (John 2:14)
Also, the apostle Saint James said, "You believe that God is one, and you do good, and the demons believe and tremble." (Jas 2:19, Mar 3:11) As we understand from this, the devil also believes, he trembles but has no good works. Therefore, not all faiths are considered religions. A Christian who does not do good while keeping God's law and order should not be called by God's name.
2/ Road (way)
Religion is God's revelation to mankind. In the prophet Hosea, "Who is wise who understands this thing, who understands it? God's way is upright, and the righteous walk in it, but the transgressors fall into it." He explained religion as "the way of God". Also, Hosea 14:9 and "But listen to my word, I am God." I will be your people, and you will be my people, so that it may be good for you, walk in all the ways I have commanded you. Er. 7:23 The apostle Saint James explains that religion is the way by saying, "He who turns a sinner from his wrong way may save his soul from death and erase the multitude of sins."
