Choosing the Right Friends: A Matter of Eternal Consequence
Friendship is not a trivial matter; it is a path that either leads a man to God or away from Him. The friendships we cultivate determine the course of our lives, for, as the Scripture declares, "Bad company corrupts good morals" (1 Cor. 15:33).
The youth, especially, are vulnerable, for their hearts burn with passion, and their feet are swift to pursue whatever is placed before them. If they walk with the wise, they shall become wise; if they associate with the wicked, they shall be ensnared in the net of iniquity.
Thus, let us be vigilant in choosing our companions. Let our friends be those who love righteousness, who speak truth, who correct us in our errors, and who strengthen our faith. Let us flee from those whose words are smooth but whose hearts are full of deceit, for they shall lead us to destruction.
True friendship is not measured by pleasure or by the length of years but by righteousness. Blessed is the man who finds a friend like Jonathan, but cursed is he who walks with men like Jonadab.
May the Lord grant us wisdom to discern between true and false friends, that we may walk in righteousness all the days of our lives. Amen.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
