Conflicts arise when one spouse desires children and the other does not, or when financial struggles lead to blame and resentment. Many forget the sacred vow to endure together through all trials, and when wealth, beauty, or status decline, love diminishes, and separation follows.
6. Marrying for Wealth Rather Than Love
Marriage founded upon wealth is built upon sand. When wealth fades, so does affection, and division takes root. The Savior has warned:
“How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” (Mark 10:23)
True love does not rest upon gold or silver, for these are fleeting. Rather, it endures in humility, in patience, and in devotion to the Lord. A marriage bound by riches alone is doomed to collapse when the treasury is emptied.
7. Lack of Trust
Trust is the cornerstone of every godly marriage. When suspicion arises, when one spies upon the other, when accusations replace understanding, discord is near. The whisper of jealousy and the shadow of doubt poison the union.
If a husband or wife acts in secrecy—even with good intent—it can sow distrust. What is hidden, though harmless, breeds questions. And where questions grow unchecked, division follows.
“A house divided against itself cannot stand.” (Mark 3:25)
Lack of trust is not unique to men or women alone. Both must labor to remove all causes of suspicion, for once trust is lost, love itself may soon follow.
Conclusion: Guarding the Sacred Union
Beloved, the union of marriage is not merely a human contract but a divine covenant. It must be protected against the snares of the enemy, the weaknesses of the flesh, and the storms of worldly trials. Let husbands and wives be vigilant, let them pray without ceasing, and let them cultivate love through patience and sacrifice.
For the Lord, who joined them, is ever ready to sustain them if they walk in His ways. May He grant wisdom, endurance, and love to all who enter this holy bond, that they may remain steadfast until the end. Amen.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us.
Amen.
