The Sacred Records and Secret Counsel of God
The saints are the keepers of God’s mysteries, those entrusted with His secrets and revelations. From Moses, who spoke to God face-to-face, to Abraham, to whom God disclosed His plans for Sodom, these chosen servants were given insights into the divine will. Their intimate relationship with God reveals that the Lord shares His heart with those who seek Him in purity and devotion. In them, we see how God’s mercy moves and how His judgment is tempered by His servants’ intercessions. Just as Moses interceded for Israel and Abraham pleaded for the righteous in Sodom, we learn that the saints’ prayers are powerful and effective. They teach us to rely on their intercession, for their closeness to God is a channel of grace for us all.
The Example of the Martyrs and Their Crown of Glory
The martyrs show us the ultimate path to holiness: the willing sacrifice of one’s life for the sake of Christ. They, who despised the world and endured bitter sufferings for the Kingdom, teach us that true discipleship is costly. Yet, as St. Ephraim reminds us, they gained a crown of eternal glory, showing us the reward of unwavering faith. Their perseverance inspires us, reminding us that the path of holiness is indeed a narrow way, yet one paved with God’s promises and leading to His presence.
A Final Exhortation
In the lives of the saints, we see the embodiment of the Gospel, the living example of the narrow path to salvation. Their lives are not distant legends but guiding lights, calling us to walk as they walked, to strive as they strove, and to trust as they trusted. By imitating their holiness, we draw nearer to Christ, who is the crown of their glory and our hope of salvation.
Let us cherish the saints as our heavenly family, honor their memory, and seek their intercession. May we learn from their examples and strive to live lives worthy of our calling, that we, too, might share in the promises of the Kingdom and stand among the blessed in the eternal presence of our God.
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen.
