    Her Birth Was Accompanied by

    Wondrous Signs

Continued ☝️ Her birth was accompanied by wondrous signs. The earth, which had long groaned under the weight of sin, rejoiced, and the heavens proclaimed her glory. Angels descended from on high, and the fragrance of paradise filled the air. The old world passed away, and with her birth, the new creation began to unfold. The Purity and Holiness of Our Lady From the moment of her conception, Our Lady was preserved from the stain of original sin. She was chosen to be the vessel of the Incarnation, and thus, she was made pure, spotless, and without blemish. Her holiness was not merely external but touched every aspect of her being—her thoughts, her words, and her actions. She was wholly consecrated to God, filled with the grace of the Holy Spirit, and untouched by the corruption of the world. The Holy Virgin Mary’s purity is of three kinds: in her life, in her heart, and in her actions. From her youth, she lived in the temple, dedicated to the service of God. She was a model of humility, chastity, and devotion, a living sanctuary where the Spirit of God dwelled. Her life was one of perfect obedience to the will of God, and even before she knew the fullness of her calling, she submitted herself entirely to His providence. As Saint Luke records, when the angel Gabriel announced to her that she would conceive and bear the Son of God, she responded, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word" (Luke 1:38). In this response, we see the depth of her faith and her unwavering trust in God’s plan. The Prophetic Signs of Her Birth The birth of Our Lady was not only anticipated by her parents but foretold by the prophets and sages of old. The vision that Anna saw of the white dove resting upon her head was a sign of her daughter’s future role as the Mother of God. The dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, prefigured the overshadowing of the Spirit that would later occur at the Annunciation, when Mary conceived the Word of God in her womb. Furthermore, the wise King Solomon, guided by divine inspiration, foresaw her birth and her role in salvation history. In his wisdom, he declared, "Who is this that appears like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, majestic as the stars in procession?" (Song of Solomon 6:10). This prophetic vision pointed to the Virgin Mary, whose purity and glory would shine brighter than the sun and whose birth would herald the coming of the true Light of the world, Christ our Lord. The Virgin Mary: The New Eve and the Ark of Salvation In the person of the Virgin Mary, we see the fulfillment of the ancient promise made to Eve in the Garden of Eden. Just as Eve was the mother of all the living, so too is Mary the new Eve, the mother of all who live in Christ. Where Eve brought sin and death into the world through her disobedience, Mary brings life and salvation through her obedience. She is the new Ark of the Covenant, the dwelling place of God’s glory, for in her womb, she carried the very Word of God, made flesh for our salvation. Her birth was a sign that God’s promise to redeem His people was being fulfilled. In her, the hopes of the patriarchs, the prophecies of the prophets, and the prayers of the righteous were all answered. She is the bridge between heaven and earth, the ladder by which the Son of God descended to save mankind. Conclusion: Our Lady, the Hope of All Humanity Beloved, as we commemorate the birth of the Holy Virgin Mary, let us give thanks to God for the great gift He has given us in her. Her birth is the dawn of our salvation, the beginning of the fulfillment of God’s plan to redeem the world. Through her, the Light of the world entered into the darkness, and through her, the curse of sin was lifted. Continues 👇🏾
