    Statement From the Permanent Synod

of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church

Statement from the Permanent Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Regarding the scandalous scene  at the opening ceremony of the 2024 World Olympic Games:- "The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! For they have rewarded evil unto themselves".  (Isa. 3:9) In the opening ceremony of the 2024 World Olympic Games, that took place on Friday, July 26 2024 in in the city of Paris, France, we saw a scandalous scene that degrades the sacrament of Holy Communion, which is highly respected by all Christians and promotes same-sex marriage, homosexual activities and anti-Christian cults. The act of showing such scene is a blasphemous sin against the sacrament of Holy Communion; it violates religious freedom and encourages transsexuals. In general, the scene is a direct attack on the Christian religion and Christians. Such act is unacceptable both in human life style and Christian scriptures. The shown disgraceful act is forbidden and condemned not only by religious canons but also by the laws of the various countries in the world. The disgraceful act that was openly broadcasted on the world stage is a satanic act that should be condemned. Therefore, the Permanent Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church strongly condemns and sends a spiritual call to all affiliated bodies to condemn the disgraceful act that has aroused great anger among the Christian religion and all Christians, to respect the rights and freedom of worship, and to openly oppose the act.
